What do I get with a Capsule?

What does my storyteller need?
Just the free Earloom app on an iPhone or iPad, and a quiet place to talk. One big button starts the session, and the interviewer takes it from there. If they can answer a phone call, they can do this.
What if they think their life isn't interesting?
Almost every storyteller says that. Then the right question lands, and forty minutes disappear. The questions are written by oral historians to feel like conversation across the kitchen table, not an interview.
Is it private and secure?
Yes. Recordings and transcripts are encrypted in transit and stored securely in the cloud. Nothing is ever public, and only the people you invite can listen. We never sell or share your family's stories.
Who owns the recordings?
Your family does. Every recording, transcript, and highlight belongs to you, not to us. Download it all and keep it anywhere you like, and if you ever delete your Capsule, it is gone from our servers too.
What languages does Earloom support?
Earloom is available in English and Spanish, with more languages on the way. The interviewer speaks to your storyteller in their own language, in their own words.
